We invite you to look around at Our House Garden of Democratic Ideas. You can see some of the ideas that have been planted and provide your feedback on those things that impact your life. Once these ideas garner support we'll "harvest" the best ones and propose them to the caucus for Agenda approval.
This is where you will plant your ideas or "seeds" as suggestions.
- Sow as many seeds as you wish
- Don't get discouraged by or over react to bad seeds (ones that others don't like).
- We should over-seed so that the good ones survive and the others are pushed out or never germinate. Over-seeding is our way of knowing we get the best ideas to move forward because you can't tell which ones will take and which ones won't until you plant it somewhere it can try to grow.
After you plant your seed, you'll need to tend to it and makes sure it germinates (liked by others) and starts to take root (becomes popular), you will need to pick a row to plant your seedling. (Coming soon - This model also exists for your state here in the Representative section or in the Our House in Action section for campaign suggestions)
- Legal Rights Row - Do you have an idea for a new federal law? Does an existing federal law need to change? Plant your seed here!
- Education Row - Do you have an idea to help bring affordable education to public schools? Do you have an idea to make Higher Education more affordable for those that have the knowledge and skills to not just obtain it but use it?
- Healthcare Row - Do you have an idea to help keep health care costs down and service options open and available?
- Voting Row - Do you have an idea that will help make it easier for citizens to cast their vote or run for office?
- Social safety Row - Do you have an idea that will help make it easier for Americans during times of need and provide for a safe and secure retirement with dignity.
- Jobs Row - Do you have an idea that will stimulate jobs growth or ideas that we should invest in areas of public research and funding
- Plant another row:
A staffer will take your seedling and setup a page and a blog for your seedling in the Row (Subject page). You will give it plenty of sunlight, food & water (more details about practicality, constitutionality and priority).
- Invite others to comment and support
- Decide how tightly you want to control it's growth.
As your idea begins to Sprout, you'll need to stake it to a foundation (define a core principle or mission), feed it (be open to suggestions) and give it plenty of water & Sunlight (transparency).
- There should be a principle or purpose behind each idea, why do you want this to happen? What question does this answer, what problem is this supposed to solve? Can you see this through other perspectives and maybe other applications?
- Recruit other volunteers by incorporating their ideas or perspectives into the idea.
- The ideas that are too singular may fail because they are unnoticed or self-serving (take but don't add) or become too weak to stand but ideas that become to overgrown can be too hard to pull apart and don't have any cohesive structures that can survive outside of the garden.
- Be sure to keep conversations open to all and keep all agendas open. We want laws that improve our lives and our communities. It isn't a matter of whether you personally benefit, but how many others does it and at who's cost.
After your idea begins to grow, you'll need to build a group of supporters to protect it.
- Don't Feed Moles & Vermin: Don't let naysayer's get in your way or try to take it apart. If it's a good idea it will grow, if it's not you will know when to pull it from the roots. But it should be your decision, not another individual.
- The more attractive the idea, it will be more likely to gather others protecting it but also those that may not agree, which is their right as long as all Our House Our Rules are observed.
Doing the Gardening will be the Site Monitors and volunteers. They will be responsible for assisting in moving seeds to the correct rows and gardens, taking action against rule violations and "weeding" disruptions in the garden.
- Sometimes a law can only be changed at a county or state level, our Ops staff will help you transplant your seed into your State Victory Garden.
- Everyone who's tending garden has a responsibility to keep the garden free of vermin and report nuisance weeds.
- We respect everyone's right to vote their own preference and their right to Free Speech and allowed voice of dissent. Threats, intimidation, abuse or personal attacks against any individual or group of individuals will not be tolerated.
Harvest Time - The First Candidate Nomination starts Harvesting & Sorting.
- At the time of the nomination, ideas that have garnered the largest level of support and engagement will be harvested for agenda approval.
- Any "Hybrid Crops" that cannot be harvested will have a 30 Day review by volunteers to allow the idea to grow another 2 years or "pull" for "compost" any or all of the related "Hybrids". Volunteers will have an additional 30 days to transplant into State Gardens.
- Any "seeds" that had a majority of negative "germination" will be removed from the Seedlings.
- Any "sprouts" that have not been attended to in 60 days or more will be "pulled" for "compost".
Sorting the Crops -
- Some ideas will be tabled if they do not apply to our top 5 priorities.
- For those ideas, they are posted for volunteers at the state to vote for their state platform agendas.
- If the idea falls under any of the 5 priorities it is transferred to the Agenda Approval Page
- Agenda Approvals are open for voting until election day, with a simple majority of "Yes" over "No" and 2/3 of Caucus members voting "Yes" and/or "Not Sure" and/or "No Opinion" ("Not Sure" & "No Opinion" are considered a consent to the majority)
- Approved items are set to our agenda page for Prioritization by our members in the next congress is in session.
- Unapproved items may be electives that apply to select States and may be assigned to the State platform agenda.
