What are these squads?
Our squads are groups of teams that work together as well as independently. Squads will need to appoint 2 or 3 volunteers to "take point". We are a group of independents, each with different opinions, thoughts and passions that are working together to achieve a common goal based on the needs of the caucus and campaign.
How do the teams work?
Teams are when 2 or more volunteers are working together to achieve a goal that moves us closer to our mission of connecting with voters to ask them to vote for anyone - just vote. You can volunteer to be part as many teams as you can handle. You may find that you can help double check new posts for accuracy or data integrity. You decide where you want to help and what you are comfortable doing. We just ask that you act. The "Our House" teams are teams that do require you to commit to a 10 - 20 hour/week unpaid volunteer.
Will I have a Manager?
Not a manager, we are independents. You should try to partner up with another volunteer at least. You choose from the list where you want to help or just do something on your own, tell us about it if you think it worked or didn't work. Blogs and Page Owners are posting, it should be a 2nd approval process. The Creator/drafter and a publisher. Both names should be visible when posting to the website on behalf of the Our House Independent Caucus.
Who is the leader?
Example. Example is our leader. All examples are valuable, and as my brother has told me, even a valuable lesson is learned from a bad example, of what not to do. We are trying to Lead by Example. We are offering a public voice and debate on the agenda of your House of Representatives and a voice in the campaign with the support of the candidate. If we want a representative that listens and leads, then we should be that in our own communities. Take charge of one thing at least and commit to own it until 2022 and we can end gerrymandering and being intentionally excluded from Representation in the Congress.
1 Action Per Month Required to maintain Caucus agenda approval voting rights.
There is a 30 Day Grace-Period. We want to remove money from politics but we can't do that and hire people to do all of the hard work. We all have busy lives and so we have suggestions of simple things you can do in 60 minutes estimated. And you may even have a few impromptu moments where you can mention our caucus or pass along a flier without pressuring anyone or getting caught up into a political conversation in an inappropriate setting. The only real commitment we have is that you vote. If you find that you cannot stay directly involved or want to step away, that's fine, we look forward to your vote on our agenda prioritization and hope you will still support our caucus on Social Media and Public Events. Becoming a monthly donor will help us reimburse volunteers for their out of pocket costs so you help them volunteer more by working together.
How do I know what to do?
Overtime, we'll learn best practices but for now it's a matter of telling your friends and neighbors about this concept of creating a caucus out of voters that have been gerrymandered out of representation by both political parties. If any of our main 5 platform priorities speak to you let it out! We will also have ways of asking for help where you can decide to work with other teams in the squad. We'll also have all kinds of ideas coming in from our web-guests and visitors as well as volunteers. If you "2nd" their idea, see what you can do to reach out and make it happen and share your experience. We will send out specific calls to actions at times but they are never required - we are independents.
