Our House Independent Caucus

Welcome to our Ballot Box Revolution!

Step away from the partisan noise and talking points that have become more transparent propaganda than ever in our political history.  We are creating a resource for voters that will help you understand what's happening in government that impacts you and your family and join with other volunteers to bring our voice to our representatives.  We'll give you a resource so that you are prepared when you walk up to the ballot box and you know how you plan to vote.

This is how your constitution begins:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Article 1 

Section. 1. All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

Section. 2. The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several states, and the Electors in each state shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the state Legislature.

No person shall be a Representative, who shall not have attained to the Age of Twenty-Five Years, and been seven years a citizen of the United States and who shall not when elected be an Inhabitant of that state in which he shall be chosen."

The House of Representatives is our house, the people's house, and we've been sold out by our political parties.  We've been gerrymandered into secure districts for a large majority of House seats.  If you are in a gerrymandered district, your representative has a job until they decide to run for higher office or cash in at some Wall Street Bank or D.C. Lobbying firm.   You can't really blame them, it's the system.  We really have only ourselves to blame because we checked out.  

The young and old that hoped of a change coming from within and found that a lot of waivers and promises that weren't promises after all.  The young and old that saw Wall Street walking away scar-free and we were scared of losing our jobs and our homes and instead got more unemployed teachers and cops and a weaker social safety net.  Many of us tried here and there and even a few won a few like unseating Eric Cantor or passing the Anti-Corruption Act in Tallahassee, FL.  We also have 5 States that have called for an Article V Convention.  And more than a lot of us all thought that we didn't have to pay attention because they wouldn't intentionally do anything to hurt us.  Why would they?  

We were wrong.

Will you help take the House of Representatives back for the people?

If you can still read this while you are shaking your head and possibly rolling your eyes, please consider this.  

1. There are more seats considered "gerrymandered" than that are actually at play in either party.
2. The parties have agreed to keep their monopolies with each other, even abandoning any of their own party candidates attempting to run.  This makes them weak.
3. In 2016 without the "Obama-Effect" both parties will be in a state of confusion with the GOP running on undoing everything Obama has done and the Democrats pretending they never really liked the guy in the first place so unless a clear leader steps forward to unite the country, the oligarchs will keep the parties and their loyalists competing for the same crumbs and fighting each other.  This makes the parties weaker as they push more and more people away from partisan politics.
4. The Our House Independent Caucus candidates will not carry the baggage the incumbent's national party and any party opponent is already at a disadvantage regardless of how moderate, weak or independent they claim to be.
5. In 2016, we could be a blip, but in 2020 it could be a roar if we can separate partisanship from our self-governance.

Our Mission Statement:  

Our mission is to engage with citizens by assisting them with easy access to public information to exercise their constitutional right of self-governance through a representative government by voting for the purpose of taking the U.S. House of Representatives back from the lobbyists and return it to WE, THE PEOPLE. 

Our Priorities

There are members of both parties that are giving the correct soundbites but are too short on action.  We are sending a delegation to the House of Representatives specifically to fight to end corruption and return the house to the people. 

1. Return the House to the People by a representative who will act with the consent of the governed.

2. Work to get the American Anti-Corruption Act passed into Law.

3. Shepherd a constitutional amendment to establish that corporations are not people and money is not speech.

4. Protect and Restore Jobs, the Minimum Wage and the Social Safety Net

5. End Gerrymandering and Protect and Restore Voting Rights

Our Strategies

1. Crowd-Sourcing Information: We each find pieces of information and place it here for others so they don't have to spend the time researching.  Others can then find more pieces and build off the existing details.  

   1. We start with understanding who we are as a nation, state and district and precinct by finding Census, Voter Registration, Election Results and Voter turnout.  Develop a data set with volunteer "owners" that own 1 or 2 pieces of the data.

   2. Now that we know who we are and have a structure our districts and precincts to exist, we can start to connect people with their elected representatives, ballots and their polling places.

   3. Some volunteers will focus on the Legislative record to identify bills and their outcomes and work with the district page volunteers to record votes.  One or two people should group together to follow a single bill. We can't track everything but if there are volunteers following legislation, this is place they can share their research and thoughts.

   4. Some Volunteers will focus previous legislation from previous Congress' that both became law and those that did or didn't pass the house.  We need to be able to identify good legislation that never became law and identify bad laws and get them repealed or amended.

2. Seed>Feed>Seed Grassroots Campaign:  We are following in the footsteps of the modern Occupy Movement as well as other current grassroots campaigns such as Represent.Us, Wolf-Pac and MoveToAmend.org

   1. This Caucus is intended to be a garden for democracy where volunteers plant the seeds of their ideas, comments and opinions.

   2. Ideas can be "over-seeded" with multiple versions, options or alternatives as others are inspired to throw their seeds into the soil.

   3. Once the idea germinates (another volunteer likes the idea) in the caucus where it can begin to take root.

   4. The more support it gets, the bigger, stronger and more vital it becomes.

   5. Soon new ideas will "go to seed" and volunteers will take clippings and transplant so that your idea can grow in other states, districts and precincts.

3. Together Forward Support Coalition:  Unite a coalition of volunteer professionals to support independent grassroots campaigns that can maintain free of the influence of money in politics and focused on serving the needs of the district they are elected to represent.

   1. Webmasters and web support:  You can be virtually anywhere, you can help candidates improve their website experience and better connect with their constituents.

   2. Graphic arts and Designs:  You can help create mass designs that are created so that an address label can be attached for custom candidate or event details.  Create custom flyers or images for candidates or local caucus team.

   3. Small Printing & Pick-up/Drop-Off:  Volunteers can print their own small quantities or design their own flyers.  Volunteers can print extra materials for other campaign volunteers to ensure every voter can be reached.  Volunteers can choose to be a pick/drop location for other members to get additional campaign materials without waiting for shipping. 

   4. Large Custom Printing: Small businesses, caucus fundraisers and direct ship purchases of bulk order/discounted Yard Signs, T-Shirts, Hats, Pens, Buttons and other products.

   5. Amateur Audio/Visual Services: Photo & Video of events as well as videos to endorse and help promote candidates and our caucus.

   6. Professional Audio/Visual Services:  Video Production and Photography to help educate and inform online and in-person voters.

Our House in Action

Our Chores: As in any household, everyone has chores to do.  You can review each of the squads that run and manage the Our House caucus site and infrastructure.  The agenda is defined by the vote of the caucus so our volunteers focus on spreading the word about our caucus and maintaining the website's growth, sustainability and remains free of partisan influence.

Our Voices

Our Volunteer Walls:  "Our Walls in Our House" are the volunteer areas of our site.  They support Our House and provide stability to the caucus.  Each of our Walls represent a different task that is needed to keep Our House standing.  

Our Elected Representatives: "Our Elected Representatives" is a state by state setup that is laid out by Congressional District as well as State House and Senate Districts.  It also includes county to precinct level pages where you can find out more.  We're just beginning, if any information in your State is incomplete, you can volunteer to be a staffer or research squad volunteer and you can help us expand your reach into your state, district or county.

Our Democracy Garden:  "Our Democracy Garden" is where ideas can be planted as "Our Seedlings" that you can review what's been planted and maybe sew a few of your own ideas.  Once Seedlings sprout, they are transplanted in "Our House Garden" where they can start to take form and could even be "harvested" and added to our caucus agenda if it is part of our 5 priorities.
